The rail track of an automatic stacking crane at a container terminal. The challenge was to find the causes leading to extensive clip failures. As it turned out it wasn't because of any material defects or faulty design, but a simple installation error.

To gain a complete oversight of the 17000 meter of rail level and alignment we surveyed a total of some 60.000 points. We removed some of the track to check the flatness of the soleplates and find causes for the clip breakages.
